The stellar associations of the Small Magellanic Cloud

Abstract

The stellar associations of the SMC are less well defined than those of the LMC. A catalog is presented of 70 probable examples, of which 16 objects are of a more questionable nature. The associations have almost exactly the same mean size as those in the LMC but are poorer in the number of bright members. There are several problems in establishing the identity and the true properties of such objects in extragalactic sources.
