UBV observations and a light curve are presented for a new variable star, chosen to be a companion star for the very hot degenerate dwarf PG 1520 + 525, and these data are found to be consistent with the interpretation that the new variable is a halo RR Lyrae variable of Bailey's type 'c'. Under the assumption that its absolute magnitude is +0.6, the UBV observations place it 2.2 kpc above the galactic plane, 8.5 kpc from the galactic center, and 2.8 kpc from the sun.
