A drainage basin is a good field for environmental or geographical research for a number of interconnected issues. Project fieldwork develops deeper understanding of those issues in their complexity. The issues comprise fluvial processes and hydrology, landscape structure and land-use pattern, environmental evaluation and the possibilities of further development, population and age structure, services and retail patterns and sustainable development. Their use in secondary school environmental/geographical studies on the examples of interconnecteditems, practised skills andattitudes is outlined.
