During the mid-1920's, when the trend of land settlement in this State began to highlight certain serious shortcomings in the system of administrative mapping employed since 1898, it became apparent that to provide adequate map coverage adaptable to future land development, a more flexible system of cadastral mapping than the old country-parish and other existing systems would have to be introduced.
