Computers are changing the visage of medicine. Automation is now being applied in at least seven biomedical areas: education, libraries, records, hospital administration, diagnosis, patient care and experimental research. Further refinements and applications promise new sophistication in almost every facet of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease.
