Abstract The Hypnotic Induction Profile (Spiegel & Bridger, 1970) and the Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility, Form A (Shor & E. Orne, 1962) were compared using 47 nursing students. A significant positive relationship between these 2 scales was found. The eye-roll, which is the ability to roll one's eyes upward and slowly close the lids, was also compared to the Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility and found not to be related. These results suggest the possibility of using the Hypnotic Induction Profile, which takes only 5 to 10 min. to perform, for rapid screening of experimental Ss and possibly of patients.
