Abstract

beginning teacher's salary of $9500 and pays toward his retirement. Mildred receives $9500 for half-time services and draws one-half of a year's retirement benefit based upon 30 years of service and pays toward her full-time retirement, based upon $9500. The school district pays the difference between the $9500 salary which Mildred is earning and the $19,000 salary which Mildred would earn if she were teaching full-time. Mildred receives a full year's credit toward her eventual full-time retirement, based upon her salary eligibility of $19,000. Perhaps there would be a stipulation that this service as a supervising teacher could be repeated for a limited period of time, such as 3 to 5 y ars. Or perhaps this opportunity could be given to teachers earlier in their professional careers whenever it was deemed to be in the best interest of the teacher, students, and school administrators.
