
Abstract A description is provided for Mucor miehei . Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOSTS: From soil, compost, stored barley, hay and resting Parthenium argentatum (guayule). DISEASE: Has been reported by Cooney & Emerson (1964) as isolated from brain and other organs of a calf. However, this record is based on Smith's (1957) description of an isolate received from Austwick which appears to be a homothallic Mucor pusillus [Rhizomucor pusillus] (CMI Descript. 527). GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: India, UK, USA. TRANSMISSION: By air-borne sporangiospores.
