Abstract

Abstract This chapter focuses on the benefits of the development of a management plan for the location of the infrastructure for the water supply and how water is to be applied to different soil types prior to blackberry cultivation. The importance of soil management in maintaining fertility, minimizing erosion of the topsoil and maintaining good soil structure with minimum tillage is discussed and the role of water management in maintaining adequate soil moisture for producing an optimal canopy for maximum fruit production is highlighted.
