
Abstract This chapter is about employing and being employed in the entertainment industries. It considers the context of this industry and then provides an introduction to the generic principles of human resource management, before applying these to the specific context of recruitment and employment in entertainment, while also exploring alternatives to employment. The chapter goes on to consider the issue of equal opportunities, before concluding with an introduction to the main entertainment unions and industry bodies. The chapter offers examples from music, theatre, film and television.
