A theoretical model is developed for large scale-length, one-dimensional thermal instabilities along the field lines in tokamak divertors. Calculated growth rates predict a divertor thermal instability under the conditions (low-plasma temperature and density and high-neutral densities at the divertor plate) at which detachment followed by large-scale divertor temperature and density redistributions are observed in several DIII-D [Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion Research (International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna, 1986), p. 159] discharges.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 5 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
