NEWS has recently been received that the Marine Biological Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution of Washington at the Tortugas Keys, Florida, has been closed owing to necessary restrictions of the Institution's programme in certain directions. The Laboratory buildings have been handed over to the United States Government, that portion of Loggerhead Key on which they stand having been originally leased from the Government for purposes of marine biological research.
