Abstract The levitation force between a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) levitator and a permanent magnet has been analyzed, and different theoretical models can be applied which have different J c – B relationships. Characteristics like magnetization and levitation force are strongly dependent on the J c – B relations, the way to obtain the J c ( B ) has been theoretically approached. Features of the HTS levitation to a permanent magnet are also discussed with verification made by experimental measurement.
