Abstract With continued rapid population growth and industrialization in Nigeria, it has become necessary to undertake a systematic compilation of quantitative data on the known energy resources and reserves in the country in order to provide a suitable framework for national energy planning purposes and international comparisons. In this paper, such a quantitative compilation of data on both the renewable and non-renewable energy forms are presented. Relevant physical characteristics of each energy resource are also included, together with comments on resource utilization.
