Abstract Particle production in hadron-nucleus, nucleus-nucleus and proton-proton reactions is analyzed assuming heavy baryon resonance excitation. Using experimental data for backward particle production, some baryon excitation functions are deduced. A reliable description of particle energy spectra has been obtained with an exponential shaped excitation function. Some features of the experimental data are discussed.
