
Abstract A single crystal of SrTiO 3 doped with equal amounts of La and Cr, i.e. SrTiO 3 : LaCrO 3 , is used as a photoanode in aqueous solution Sensitized photocurrents are observed for wavelengths down to 560 nm. The optical absorption spectrum of SrTiO 3 : LaCrO 3 is discussed and the strong absorption in the visible ascribed to Cr 3+ → Ti 4+ charge transfer.
