Due to the emergence of geodata infrastructure, the worlds of the professional and public map users are merging. This development let geoscientists work with in highly interactive geovisualization environments, while outdoor enthusiasts record their activities with google earth in the field, but it also puts the map in a different position. This position is strongly influenced by other disciplines, but also allows cartographers to contribute to the development of those and other disciplines.
