Abstract

Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) reduces the formation of NOx and Diesel soot. An exhaust gas recirculation valve, controlled by the engine characteristic map, meters the recirculated gas rate. A new concept of a gas rate sensor developed by Heraeus Sensor Technology seems to bring about a clear improvement in this respect.
