A FVV project at the chair for combustion engines of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern was accomplished where modern catalysts in realistic conditions were tested. Thereby, the focus was on the mechanisms of catalyst aging, in particular to the catalyst deterioration. By use of a special cycle, it was tried to represent the chemical and the thermal aging separately and to determine the losses of activity resulting from it.
