Kongenitale okuläre Melanose

Abstract

Ocular melanocytosis is a congenital unilateral hyperpigmentation of the uveal tract and episclera. A common feature is a striking heterochromia. We present a case report of a 33-year-old woman, with an unilateral melanosis of the sclera and a circumscript melanocytoma accompanied by ipsilateral heterochromia of iris and uvea. No change of these pigmentations even during pregnancy could be found during a followup of 6 years. The probability of a transformation from ocular melanosis to an uveal malignant melanoma is estimated by Shields about 5% [11], this percentage is suspected to become even higher during pregnancy and lactation due to an until yet unknown hormonel influence [12]. Therefore regular examinations are indicated, in case of pregnancy they should be every three months.
