Abstract

Opgroeien in een gezin met een ouder die psychisch ziek of verslaafd is, is voor kinderen een belasting. Jaarlijks krijgen 1,6 miljoen kinderen onder de 22 jaar te maken met een psychische ziekte of verslaving van hun vader of moeder; de zogenaamde KOPP/KVO-kinderen (Kinderen van Ouders met Psychische Problemen en/of Verslavingsproblemen). Twee op de drie kinderen komen redelijk door zo’n moeilijke situatie heen. Een op de drie ontwikkelt zelf psychiatrische en/of verslavingsproblemen.1 Vanuit de GGZ-preventie wordt al zo’n 15 jaar aandacht besteed aan deze doelgroep. Dit gebeurt o.a. binnen de KOPP/KVO-groepen die aangeboden worden voor kinderen in de leeftijd van 8-23 jaar.
