Abstract

Il existe principalement deux modeles de traduction automatique : 1) le modele a transfert qui inclut une representation du texte source et un module de transfert qui transforme cette representation en une representation du texte cible, 2) le modele a langage pivot qui ne comporte qu’une representation intermediaire partagee par le texte source et par le texte cible. On exposera les criteres utilises pour choisir entre ces deux modeles. Ensuite, on presentera un systeme a transfert, Eurotra, qui est un projet de recherche et developpement de la Communaute economique europeenne mettant en jeu les neuf langues officielles de la Communaute. Le nombre important de modules de transfert (i.e. 72) impose de simplifier autant que possible ces modules, ce qui demande de concevoir une representation syntaxico-semantique suffisamment abstraite pour que les operations de transfert se ramenent a des transferts lexicaux dans un nombre significatif de cas.
