The major expedition ofSaccharum complex starts from collection by Barber before 1916 and got momentum by Mukharjee (1947-48) and Panje (1949-57). After 1981 collections were aimed at unexplored areas with emphasis on wild and related genera. Still there is scope for expedition in unexplored and even explored areas in context with changing environmental scene.
