Si considera il problema dell’analisi dei periodi da un punto di vista strettamente matematico, dimostrando che esso e determinato soltanto nel caso che la funzione del tempo, sottoposta ad analisi, sia soluzione di un’equazione differenziale lineare ordinaria omogenea a coefficienti costanti e si espone un metodo per calcolare i detti coefficienti basato sulla conoscenza numerica della funzione, affatto indipendente da quella di qualsiasi sua derivata.
