Based on up to date literature, this paper details the evolution of wave dependence of wind stress. Some typical models of the dependence of wind stess on waves are described in detail. Although there is no universally accepted theory and model, recent studies indicate that the wind stress strongly depends on the development state of sea waves, i. e., yours seas are rougher than mature seas; in other words, the wind stress decreases with increasing wave age.
