Fixed beds of synthetic anionites were used to remove SO2 from exhaust gas. The process suggested includes the reactivation of the sorbent with sodium sulphite. Average SO2 removal efficiency and adsorption capacity were determined for a number of commercial anionites. For both fresh and Na2SO3-reactivated anionites, the volume mass-transfer coefficient was found to depend linearly on the gas velocity.
