In the framework of non-Abelian gauge theories, having a confining gauge field propagator infra-red singular like 1/q4, we show that the full apparatus of the Schwinger-Dyson equations in the Landau gauge is consistent only if there is a solution of the self-mass equation which i) introduces a break down of the chiral symmetry and ii) gives an infrared divergent «quark mass».
