A study of the fine structure of the Earth’s bow shock is presented using high-time-resolution data from HEOS-1. The study refers to previously defined laminar and quasi-laminar structures. The shock thickness appears to be of the order ofc/ω pi and shows, also in the laminar case, upstream waves of 1 Hz. The quasi-laminar shock shows always a «damped-soliton» structure downstream.
