The decay of 4.1 hour71Zn m and the levels of71Ga by the unified model

Abstract

Precision spectroscopy experiments were carried out on gamma-radiations emitted in the decay of 4.1 h71Znm, and several new transitions were identified. The presently accepted decay scheme has been modified to include these transitions, and several ambiguities in the level structure have been resolved. Using the intermediate-coupling unified model, the level energies of71Ga have been calculated. Vibrational phonon states of the core nucleus70Zn are coupled to proton single-particle states, 2p3/2, 1f5/2 and 2p1/2. The coupling interaction is taken as either Gaussian or derivative Saxon-Woods shape; radial wave functions are either harmonic-oscillator functions or those generated by a Saxon-Woods potential.
