Some of the West Carpathian areas are distinguished by a considerable occurrence of slope movements. In these landslide areas the construction of engineering works is preferentially dependent on the conditions of slope stability. The remaining components of the geological environment are manifest only as secondary ones. A suitable engineering geological document for the display of the environment in these areas is an analytical map of slope deformations (Landslides and other slope movements). In Czechoslovakia a particular method has been gradually developed for the preparation of hazard maps in landslide areas.
