This paper reviews in some detail the algebraic properties of classes of nondegenerate inner products (with arbitrary signature) having the same null cone over a real vector space. This generalizes the study of conformally related metrics in general relativity. Global results relating to conformal transformations of manifolds and causality properties are also obtained and related to known theorems.
