[For part II cf. Semigroup Forum 47, No. 1, 126-129 (1993; Zbl 0813.20067).] The quasivariety \(CS_s\) of subsemigroups of completely simple semigroups \((CSS)\) is not finitely based. Infinite quasi-identity bases are constructed for both the above class and for subsemigroups of groups. Also, a ``free'' \(CSS\) is constructed over \(S \in CS_s\) such that every \(CSS\) containing an isomorphic copy of \(S\) contains a homomorphic image of \(C\).
