Abstract

The generic names of the brown algaeMyagropsis, Cystoseira andCystophyllum have been used in Japan, Korea and China for a small group of seaweeds whose limits have not been clearly understood. Studies on the development of the eggs and subsequent germlings show that substantial differences occur betweenCystoseira andMyagropsis.
