The oxygen partial pressure of the gas mixture man breathes is an important measurement. A sensor is described which makes use of the reaction of oxygen with hydrogen in the presence of catalytic platinum to produce water and electrical energy. The voltage output is a direct function of the oxygen partial pressure. Performance data are presented and a package design concept is described.
