Although a commercial reality, the lithium ion battery is still the object of intense R&D aimed to further improve its performance. In this paper we review the activities in progress in our laboratory for the characterization of novel, not-carbonaceous anode materials, high-voltage cathode materials and composite polymer electrolytes.
