Magnetic traps offer the possibility for long-term storage and accumulation of atomic antihydrogen. These are invaluable features for revealing subtle differences that may exist between hydrogen and antihydrogen in interaction with electromagnetic or gravity fields. An overview is given of various aspects associated with trapping and cooling of neutral particles, putting emphasis on their relevance for the antihydrogen problem.
