The seismicity depth pattern, seismic energy and b-value depth variation in the Hellenic Wadati-Benioff zone and the overlying continental plate in the Aegean region for the period 1901–1982 are studied separately on the basis of a recent seismotectonic model [1]. The results obtained show that the W and E flanks of the Hellenic Wadati-Benioff zone, as well as the E and W parts of the overlying continental plate, have similar tendencies in the depth distributions of seismic activity and different tendencies in the depth distributions of seismic energy and b-value. The different depth distributions of the considered seismogenic characteristics are supposed to be due to different depth distributions of heterogeneity of material, stress and rheology of material of the western and eastern parts of the sinking and overlying lithospheric plates.
