After inoculation ofRhizobium lupini strain A98 andR. leguminosarum strain PRE into a medium containing IAA, growth was initially suppressed. However, when IAA was added in the course of the logarithmic phase, growth was not inhibited. Apparently, IAA affects primarily the lag phase cells.
