
Phytosociological studies of certain meadows occurring above the tree line in N.W. Himalayas have been made. A close relationship of the ground cover with moisture, the thickness of soil cover and the amount and retention period of snow has been observed. Tendencies towards stunted growth and perennialism are universal among the plants in these loialities.
