This paper reports on an evaluation of 47 cases of technology transferred from the laboratories of the USDA's Agriculture Research Service. The results of the study emphasize the importance of interaction between bench scientists and user/producers in the private sector who will commercialize the technology. Recommendations are made for ways to increase the needed interactions (e.g., Network Building Conferences, Intensive Interaction Campaigns, and Training in Technology Transfer).
