A design procedure for two types of Fresnel-zone plate antennas is presented: viz. antennas with absorbing/transparent zones and phase-correcting zones. Design objectives are the optimization of the gain of the lens of the antenna and the side-lobe envelope of its radiation pattern. The design rules are derived from numerical simulations.
