The different behaviors of Al2O3 and Pt−Al2O3 for typical hydrocarbon reactions were studied at 500°C and atmospheric pressure. Pt−Al2O3 reached higher total conversion levels, was more easily deactivated and produced more coke deposition than Al2O3 due to reactions catalyzed by Pt (hydrogenolysis and dehydrogenation).
