A factor analysis method evaluates the affinities among species of the genusKluyveromyces. On the basis of “taxonomic distances” it is proposed to reduce the number of species of this genus from 18 to 7. These species constitute two groups which are in good agreement with the two groups showed by the GC content of their DNA.
