Propagation of vernalized celery plants cut longitudinally in half to observe seedstalk formation was investigated. Use of an antibiotic spray on the cut surface made little difference in the number of plants lost due to soft rot. Callus tissue formation occurred on the cut surface and the plants resumed normal growth.
