The response of an electronic system to the photons emitted by a radioactive source (noise source) is exponential. Some statistical properties of the system output current are investigated for Poisson-distributed decay. It is found that the power spectral density for the noise is approximately proportional to the reciprocal of the frequency square (ω2). Due to the monotonic, decreasing nature of the noise power spectrum, it is found that the higher the signal frequency, the larger is the signal-to-noise ratio for such a system.
