A technology was developed for making and designing press molds for producing protective sheaths for thermocouples from zirconium diboride containing additions of molybdenum. The use of these sheaths facilitates continuous measurements of steel temperatures for 2.5–4 h. A high gas impermeability in the sheaths is obtained by using powders with a predominant grain size of less than 5μ and an addition of 5% by weight of Mo.
