Abstract

Larvae ofMusca domestica andDrosophila melanogaster were tested as prey for adultPergamasus longicornis using soil microarthropods as controls. Fly larvae were fed upon for a longer time and almost continuously. Second-instar larvae ofM. domestica were not eaten completely. No differences were detected between the sexes of the predator. Final-instar larvae ofD. melanogaster were chosen for subsequent experimentation. New field records of soil prey are included.
