This paper discusses the relationship between legislative oversight and family day care home policy. The major issues and obstacles present for family day care service providers are identified and the service providers are described. Attempts are made to discuss how well the family day care policy is working, whether or not it is meeting the needs of those to be protected, and the specific policy issues to be modified through state legislation.
