In this study, we offer a method of formal description of the Russian language intended for a formal representation of syntactic-semantic relations in a sentence. When a sentence is processed with this method, three levels of analysis are distinguished: The procedure starts from a morphologic analysis; then a syntactic sentence structure is identified by using a combined grammar ~f dependencies and groups; and, finally, a formal representation of the semantic elements of the syntactic structure is built. A formal language has beendeveloped for this representation -the language of elementary situations, SEL. A natural language sentence is fed into the system input, and the output is presented as a set of formulas in SEL language reflecting the syntactic and semantic structure of the input sentence.
