The thermal history of gas heated by explosions of population III stars at red shifts z approx. 100 is calculated. The distortions in the spectrum of the microwave radiation and the intensity of the resulting x rays are determined. Bounds on the energy release produced by the explosions of such stars are compared with available observations. The possibility of synthesis of light elements in very massive primordial stars is discussed.
